Homecoming, a night to get your hair done, do your make up,
wear a fancy dress, and take lots of pictures, and of course dance. After
buying your dress, and getting your nails done, the night finally comes and
everything all comes together, high school girls dream of this night.
You get ready to go, go take some pictures, and get dinner
with your friends and your date, and then you go to the dance.
But then what if the unexpected happened?
At a high school in Fort Dodge, Iowa a boy was stabbed in
the back on the dance floor during his homecoming dance.
Wow.
What if that was you? Or what if you sent your child off to
have a great night with their friends and then you get a call that they have been
stabbed while on the dance floor?
Crazy.
Luckily, the boys injuries were not life threatening. But
still, school and school events are supposed to be safe. Kids are supposed to
feel safe at these events and be able to enjoy themselves. But now thanks to
one messed up teenager, that sense of safeness is gone.
The reason for the stabbing was not released but just think,
what if he just stabbed the other boy because he was dancing with someone he
wanted to dance with? Is it really worth that? Is it really worth hurting
someone? I don’t think so.
The boy who was stabbed was flown to Des Moines, Iowa for
treatment.
This boy who stabbed the other boy, ruined this fun night
for all the students. The dance was now
turned into a crime scene. I want to be able to feel safe at my school dances,
but now this will be in the back of my mind. Why do people do these things?
Luckily, witnesses were able to identify the boy who did the
stabbing, and the police arrested him and sent him to a juvenile detention
center.

I hope that kids reading this will think twice about making
a mistake like this. I wish kids could feel safe at school and school events
anymore, but with all the shootings and small acts of violence like this, it
really scares you. Being a student, I will say I do feel safe at my school, but
you never know when something like this could happen.
You just never know.
